CURRENT SELECTS: Sporty
We’re currently in a transitional time, which means it is time to add new pieces into your closet. We’re moving back into some normalcy, and it’s now my favorite season, layering season! Lately I've been finding myself gravitating towards athletic wear, and pairing these new pieces with more conventional ready to wear items. Below are some of my favorite Sporty selects, along with pieces I would pair them with.
This hat is the ideal shape and has been my favorite baseball cap for months now! Especially on days when I oversleep, and rush out the door, I can throw this cap on no matter what my hair is giving. The shape is the perfect bridge between a more street snapback, and a conventional dad like baseball cap. I love to wear it with more formal pieces for contrast, or to fully lean into the menswear look with a suit, or oversized hoodie.
While I know a Blazer is far from sporty, I wanted to include this piece with this list because I love combining a Blazer with athletic wear. This Boyfriend Blazer from the Frankie Shop is the perfect fit for us ladies who want an oversized Blazer that looks like you just threw your BF’s blazer on over your look. However, it also contains chic elements such as the wide darts that make the blazer also feel feminine. I love to throw this on over a more casual look like a hoodie, biker short, or even a more fitted silhouette like this black unitard from Sundarbay. This gives you that cool girl edge, and makes transitioning from a day to night moment so easy. While this blazer does fall on the more pricey side, any oversized Black Blazer could easily work as a replacement!
Sundarbay Black Jogger with Side Splits.
Speaking of Sundarbay I am in love with their side split joggers, and have been wearing them absolutely everywhere around the city. These are not your typical sweatpants, with the fit allowing you to easily work them into your outfit with more “dressy” pieces. They’re the perfect marriage of comfortable and stylish, and the side slit is so clutch when it comes to choosing a wide range of footwear. I love to wear them extra long with a chunky sneaker or boot for the more chill look, or going with a heeled boot or heel when I am transitioning to a fun night look. Whoever decided to integrate this side slit at the hem is an absolute genius.
Nike Sportswear Fleece Cropped Crew.
I initially purchased this crew neck to throw over my workout look for more chilly days when walking to my workout class. However, the more I wore it I noticed how much I was into the silhouette, and decided to incorporate it into my day to day looks. It’s now the pullover for me to wear with a jean or a biker short when I am looking for a quick and easy look. The oversized and cropped fit makes it perfect to wear over fitted bottoms. I personally own it in the yellow and black colors, but all the color options are bomb, and transition so well as both practical athletic wear, and a ready to wear look.
Local European Mira Biker Short.
Who doesn't love a biker short these days. It's turned into the most essential piece of 2020! Truthfully one of the happiest days of my life is when they became a part of mainstream fashion, because I’ve been obsessed. All three of the previous pieces mentioned I would pair with a biker short, amongst so many others in my closet. These ones from Local European are the most major, I love the high rise fit and the fabric is thick and lux feeling, which is a deal breaker for me in a bike short. The fit lifts your booty, and you’re feeling ready to go! I have been wearing these like crazy over the last few weeks, but now as we’re transitioning into the more chilly part of autumn they might be getting some rest. But when I am back in LA, its biker shorts all day every day!
Obviously Nike never disappoints when it comes to sneakers, and they’re always both at the forefront of innovation, while also maintaining their staple designs that are constants in streetwear. These Air Barrage Lows are so crisp and classic, with cushioning that makes them the city living sneak. You can’t go wrong with a sneaker like these, whether on display like with the LE bike shorts, or with a baggy trouser or sweats like the Sundarbay ones! These are currently my favorites, but essentially any of the Nike Air line is the move, it’s just about finding your personal pick!
